Imagine you walk into a room and there are helium-filled white balloons floating at the ceiling, with red ribbons tied and hanging from each one. Every balloon has a promise from God written on it with a gold-colored permanent marker.
Just before walking into this room, your heart had been shattered by a situation completely out of your control. With tears rolling down your cheeks, you look up and grab a ribbon in each hand. Pulling down the balloon to your eye level you read on one, “The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he saves those crushed in spirit.” Psalms 34:18 and on the other balloon is written, “He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.” Psalms 147:3 CSB
You have just "pulled down" the promises of God. You incorporate those promises in your prayers, “Lord ... your promises are my firm foundation. My broken heart needs you. I’m trusting in your Word and holding your promises in both of my hands, promises that declare you will be near my broken heart, you will bandage my wounds, and you will heal my broken heart .......”
You’ve just anchored your prayers with God’s own Words! Those balloons have been a HUGE game changer in my own faith walk. Every time ... and I do mean EVERY time ... I grasp a promise of God and include God’s specific scripture verses in my prayers, movement happens. It motivates me to be in the Word more and dig for those promises because I see the power of God move when I tap into what he provides.
But you can't infuse your prayers with promises if you don't know what they are! Check out the many scripture verses on the God's Promises page. Have a favorite that isn't listed? Send me an email!! I'd love to add your favorite.
